Hi Georgie,

I wouldn't recommend feeding minced meat to venus fly traps. Your plant actually doesn't need insects that often (once or twice per month at the most). How many times have you fed it in the last week. Real meat more often than not will kill the traps. I believe it has to do with the fat content of the meat (that insects don't really have).

Also, have you been watering with rain or distilled or filtered water? Tap water is BAD for carnivorous plants...

I purchased my Venus flytrap from my local garden centre couple of weeks ago....the man said to give it some mince meat in the absence of any flies!...since doing that, one of the traps has gone black!!!:(...I'm guessing this was not something to do!?
Any advice would be gratefully received....thank you. Georgie.
